Tiny Midwife

We now refer to Addy as our tiny midwife. While she's had no formal education she's been trained, by the best, on the job at every appointment with our midwife, Amanda! Today, at our weekly appointment Addy couldn't wait for Amanda to use the fetoscope. She promptly removed it from her bag and directed Jason to lay down so she could listen. The fetoscope is used to listen to the baby's heart tones. At this point in a pregnancy, because the baby is so big, they are pretty easy to find (though not on Jason :) ) and thankfully B2 is head down. In addition to knowing how to use the fetoscope, Addy also palpates my belly to feel the baby's position and warms the blood pressure cuff by setting it by our heating vent. Most often Jason is her patient but sometimes she likes to step in to give Amanda a hand or just to take a closer look. She's quite the assistant!
